Drives & Controls

Controllers are specifically designed pieces of hardware that command and control motion. They act as the brain of the system converting desired inputs or commands (i.e., position, velocity, acceleration and time) into electrical signals that drive the motor. Control architectures include both open and closed loop. 

Servo / Stepper

Copley Controls

CANopen, EtherCat, and Macro communication protocols are offered on the Xenus and Accelnet servo motor drives and Stepnet stepping motor drives providing distributed control solutions. The distributed architecture simplifies the amplifier-to-controller wiring. A single high-speed communication protocol can serve both motion and I/O. CANopen is supported with a PCI based master interface card. The CMO (Copley Motion Objects) interface software is accessed with Visual Basic.NET. The CML (Copley Motion Libraries) is written in C++.

Delta Electronics

The ASDA family of servo drives and motors offers performance and power in a small footprint. Available in several power versions, from 100W to 15kW, with up to three times the rated current for peak power. The systems are configurable for analog torque and velocity, pulse and direction, position registers, master/slave following, and indexing. All products are CE and UL approved. Brakes, and cables are also available.

Dings’ Motion USA

Dings’ offers various motion controllers including drives and programmable controllers. From step and direction microstepping but also RS485, CANopen and EtherCAT supported open loop / closed loop, Dings’ motion controllers are very specialized.

Nanotec

Whether you need a configurable controller for I/O-based applications, a fieldbus-capable controller for complex positioning tasks or a multi-axis controller, with Nanotec you’ll find the right drive solution for your BLDC or stepper motor. For brushless DC motors with up to 3 A rated current, the compact CSL3 controller is an ideal and cost-effective choice. Apart from speed control, it also supports positioning based on Hall signals. Via digital inputs predefined motion profiles can be retrieved quickly and easily. The controllers of the N, C and CL series are designed for applications with fieldbus connection or complex sequence programs. For applications that require precise position, speed, and torque control, Nanotec also offers brushless DC motors and stepper motors with integrated controller.

Trio Motion Technology has been manufacturing high-quality motion controllers branded as Motion Coordinators since 1987. The product range provides control of 1 to 128 axes of servo motors, stepper motors, piezo motors, or hydraulic systems.

Yaskawa

The flexible design of Yaskawa machine controllers allows cost-effective configuration of motion control for any sized automation system offering machine control from 1 to 62 axis. Controllers can be easily adapted for stand-alone use on a single axis, for networking with other control devices or for complete control of a multi-axis machine.

Delta Electronics

The DVP series PLC from Delta Products offers two types of Main Processing Units (MPU): standard and slim. Each type of MPU is available with extension modules to increase both digital and analog I/O to a total of 512 points.

Trio

Trio Motion Technology has launched Motion-PLC, a new class of machine controller that combines motion, robotics, and logic. Motion-PLC provides Trio’s advanced motion control performance with the functionality and simplicity of a PLC to reduce the cost and complexity of machine design. The new controller combines multi-axis motion control and IEC language programming with Trio’s new MS I/O system for flexible I/O expansion. Motion-PLC is available in six models to control a range of stand-alone machines, from two to 16 axes, including robotics integration.


VFD

Delta Electronics

Variable Frequency Drives are available from ¼ to 475HP. Configurations include micro, V/f, high-frequency (3KHz), closed loop vector, sensorless vector, constant torque, and variable torque. Programming is accomplished via protocols including RS485, DeviceNet, Ethernet/IP, Profibus, and operator keypad. Portable LCD copy keypads simplify the transfer of programs between drives. VFD features include PID loop control, counters, multi-step speeds, MODBUS, auto-slip compensation, and adjustable acceleration/deceleration settings. All drives are CE and UL approved.

Din rail and panel mount designs are available with 85 – 480Vac input for 5, 12, 24 and 48Vdc output. The CLiQ and PMC models are RoHS compliant with overload, over voltage, and over temperature protection.
